Assessor - Teaching Assistant and Early Years Programmes

About the Role

Leeds City College are recruiting for an Assessor to join out Adult, Community and ESOL team. This role is 37 hours per week for 40 weeks of the year (term time only). The actual salary is £27,595 to £29,254 per annum.

We are seeking an assessor to work on Teaching Assistant and Early Years qualifications. This role is ideal for someone who is fully qualified to assess these qualifications and who has experience of workplace competence in these roles.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Adult, Community & ESOL (ACE) department, which was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in February 2025. In 2024, there were over 5000 students, and a team of 200+ brought education and life-changing experiences to our learners.

What You Will Do

  • You will assess Teaching Assistant and Early years qualifications in the workplace
  • You will ensure effective management of appointments, schedules and learner caseloads. 
  • You will work across a variety of locations within Leeds.

About You

  • You will hold a Level 3 assessor qualification and have experience assessing the workplace competence of a range of teachers/assessors. 
  • You will hold a Level 3 qualification in a vocationally related area e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • You will have experience assessing the workplace competence of teaching assistants and childcare practitioners studying Level 2 and 3 vocational qualifications.
  • You will have relevant experience of working as a teaching assistant or childcare practitioner. 
  • You will have current and up-to-date knowledge and experience of current assessment principles and practices. 
  • Ideally, you will be experienced in the internal quality assurance of vocationally related programmes.
