About the Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Course Leader in Maths to join our team.
We are looking to recruit a creative and inspiring Course Leader with a passion in Maths and extensive experience of delivering Maths GCSE to join our ever growing, successful team at Quarry Hill Campus.
The role is within the School of Social Sciences based at our Quarry Hill Campus situated in the centre of Leeds opposite the Bus station. The team delivers Entry Functional Skills & GCSE Maths to both 16-18 & Adult learners who are enrolled on a Study Programme or a Full time course in Education & Early Years, Public Services or Health Science and Social Care.
What You Will Do
The post will report to the Programme Manager of Maths & English and will involve working closely with the other English & Maths Course Leaders, Teachers & Study Support coaches to design and modify the curriculum plan for the department to continually improve the quality of delivery for Maths GCSE & Functional Skill delivery.
As part of the role you will:
- Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of on-line learning resources for identified cohorts.
- Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified cohorts.
- Develop and employ effective assessment activities for identified cohorts.
- Assess student work and provide constructive and timely feedback to inspire and motivate the learner to improve and achieve
- Lead quality assurance processes for the course(s) for which the post-holder is responsible.
- Inform the review process to develop and improve identified course(s).
- Be responsible for the retention, achievement, success and attendance for identified cohorts of students, courses or groups of courses for which the post-holder is responsible for.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a recognised teaching qualification and extensive experience of delivering maths GCSE & Functional Skills in an FE setting.
The person will have;
- a passion for their curriculum area
- current knowledge of GCSE/syllabus
- experience of supporting other Maths teachers and/or trainee teachers
- substantial experience of undertaking internal verification and moderation activities
- proven commitment to continuous professional development
- the skills to help students achieve their potential.
- Enthusiasm and resilience are important.
