About the Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Technician to join our Creative Arts team!
Are you passionate about media and photography and helping creative people bring their ideas to life?
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy individual to join our team at the Lens-Based and Digital Counter, based at our state-of-the-art Quarry Hill Campus in the heart of Leeds Creative Quarter.
You'll be responsible for managing the check-out and return of photography and media equipment, assisting students and staff, keeping accurate records in our booking system, and printing images to support creative learning.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong interest in media, photography, or digital production to work in a vibrant and inspiring environment.
What You Will Do
- Ensure that any reservations within the Creative Arts Booking Service are prepared for the start of the teaching day.
- Check out equipment to students and staff members and ensure that all reservations are prepared and checked in advance.
- Carry out equipment inspections after each loan to ensure items are functional and complete.
- Maintain and prepare equipment for loan by undertaking daily tasks such as charging batteries, cleaning camera lenses and updating software.
- Log any damage, missing parts, or maintenance issues accurately in the booking system
- Keep a stock check on consumable items within Technical Services and make the Creative Arts Technical Services Manager aware of the necessity to order more items.
- Print Photos as necessary and ensure payment is taken for this service
- Update software, firmware and applications on Creative Art devices.
- Support users (students, teachers and wider faculty) by answering questions and providing basic training or guidance
About You
- Organised with a strong attention to detail
- Good understanding of camera technologies, lighting and sound for film.
- Able to use MacOS and iPadOS beyond a basic standard
- An understanding of maintenance within a digital lens based area.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
- Knowledge of specialist creative equipment.
- Able to problem solve and stay calm.
