30.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8.00am to 2:30pm

Reduced Year - 36 weeks per year

Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role in a friendly, fast-paced environment? We are seeking a Food Service Assistant to join our catering team, helping to deliver high-quality food and excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive team where you will play an important role in creating a positive dining experience for our students, staff, and visitors.

You will assist with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient service for all customers.

Based at our College House Campus, which is easily accessible and close to the city's transport links, shops, and amenities.  

*Actual annual salary for 30.5 Hours, over 36 weeks will be £18,016. Hourly rate is £13.45 per hour.

What You Will Do

  • Assist the Chef Manager in food preparation.

  • Stock & clean food display

  • Use of an EPOS till.

  • Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the café and cooking areas, including washing up and cleaning of equipment.

  • Ensure food safety requirements are adhered to at all times and all due diligence records are completed accurately.

  • Be prepared to work within any of the Colleges outlets.

  • Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

About You

  • Hold a level 2 food hygiene certificate or be willing to work toward getting it

  • Knowledge of catering and hospitality practices, including food hygiene procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience working in a busy customer-focused environment, including operating tills and handling cash and card transactions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to use initiative, provide excellent customer service, and identify opportunities to promote products and services.
