HE Lecturer - Computing

About the Role

The School of Higher Education STEM at the University Centre Campus, is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Computer Scientist Lecturer.

The ideal candidate will have either industry experience or a Masters in a related field. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have expertise in some of the following areas: Database creation and management, web development, data analysis, fundamental mathematics for computer science (Algebra & Statistics), web development and database security.

What You Will Do

  • We are looking for someone who has teaching experience and who has taught computer science topics.
  • Work towards strategies to ensure the high retention, achievement, success and attendance rates for identified courses are reached.
  • Manage the process of learners and their courses to ensure groups of learners are on track to achieve their potential.
  • Ensure effective delivery of sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods, for the Computer Science, Software Development and Cyber Security courses.
  • You will have a quality focus and to continually seek out improvements in the  Computing department.
  • To contribute to the development of new programmes within the department.
  • To research, implement and train staff on immersive learning opportunities to enhance and excite the curriculum offer across the department

About You

  • You will possess an up to date and current knowledge of the computer science landscape.
  • Experience of teaching computing related topics
  • Hold a Level 5 (or above) Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE)
  • Have a degree in Computer Science or a related topic
  • Have English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or above, with a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to Level 3 or above
  • Have relevant up to date subject knowledge and evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
  • Experience of positively managing student and group progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting, with positive outcomes
