About the Role
University Centre Leeds are looking for a highly motivated, committed Sports lecturer who has recent experience in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Psychology and/or Injury Rehabilitation to teach across a range of modules on the Sports Performance and Exercise and Physical Education and Sports Coaching programme.
This role is fixed term for 12 months.
The Higher Education Sports Department at the UCLeeds delivers a range of foundation degrees, top-up degrees and higher-level apprenticeships in Physical Education and Sports Coaching, Sports Performance and Exercise and Schools Sports Coach.
What You Will Do
As a Higher Education Sports Lecturer for the Physical Education and Sports Coaching programme, you will plan and deliver specialist modules related to the Sports Performance and Exercise programme.
Key duties within the role include:
- Teaching on the sport programme(s)
- Managing student and apprentice progress and experience
- Liaising with employers, mentors, end point assessment organisation and regulatory body
- Working directly with the Higher Education Development Office and UCLeeds Admissions to ensure successful recruitment
- Quality review/evaluation of the programmes
- Co-ordinating with external partners for facility hire
- Work in a hybrid capacity to deliver our blended offer at the UCLeeds Campus and with our partners at Castleford Tigers RLFC.
About You
- Have experience of working within secondary, further education or higher education, across a variety of sports related topics. However, this post will also be of interest to those who have worked in alternative Education settings with young adults.
- Experience of teaching in educational setting, but those willing to work towards a teaching qualification will be considered. Please note that some of this teaching may be delivered remotely.
- Be able to deliver a good range of curriculum to engage learners (both online and face to face). Have a passion and ability to inspire future PE teachers, sport coaches and exercise professionals on their journey to registration.
- Have an excellent understanding of the sport curriculum and physical competency to coach complex movements or techniques.
- Be willing to travel to teach at our partner Castleford Tigers RLFC, currently operating delivery from the UCLeeds Campus and the Mend-a-hose Jungle.
- Represent UCLeeds at internal and external events.
- Passionate to develop the range of courses the department delivers and their own research profile.
