HE Lecturer - Teacher Training, Learning & Development (Fixed-term, Part-Time)

About the Role

This is a part-time, fixed-term role: 18.5 hours per week from January 2025 until January 2026. 

Are you passionate about shaping the future of education? Our dynamic Teacher Training, Learning & Development team is seeking a dedicated Higher Education Lecturer to join us. With our recent accreditation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted, we are committed to excellence and growth.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials. 
  • Design, prepare and develop courses, modules and teaching materials. 
  • Develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect changes in research. 
  • Assess students' coursework. 
  • Set, mark and moderate examinations and assessments. 
  • Supervise students' research activities, including final year undergraduate projects. 
  • Support students through a pastoral or advisory role. 
  • Undertake individual and collaborative research projects that are published in peer-reviewed journals and actively contribute to your institution's research profile. 
  • Write up research and prepare it for publication. 
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to the department, such as student admissions, induction programmes and involvement in committees and boards. 
  • Contribute to professional conferences and seminars in your field of expertise. 
  • Establish collaborative links with other institutions, as well as with industrial, commercial and public organisations. 
  • Participate in staff training activities.

About You

  • Have experience as a classroom practitioner in either the Primary or Secondary sector. 
  • You will have good knowledge of the school provision within the local Leeds area. 
  • Have some experience working alongside mentors in a school setting. 
  • You will have a good knowledge of the requirements to train on a QTS course, the compliance criteria and an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Teachers’ Standards.
