About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Luminate HE Quality and Standards directorate as part of the Registry team, in the role of HE Registrar. The post holder will provide leadership in relation to the administration of Registry services at Leeds Conservatoire.

Leeds Conservatoire is a specialist conservatoire in the UK, delivering expert music and performing arts education to a community of over 1200 students.  It offers a broad range of courses across music performance, composition, production, and performing arts.  It has great links to the industry and the local community

Located in Quarry Hill, Leeds, which is a thriving quarter where you can find world-class shopping, food and drink, nightlife and culture, with great transport links close by.

What You Will Do

  • The post holder will be responsible for working with teams in the pursuit of continuous quality improvements and excellence, which is integral in the HE quality assurance processes including academic standards and quality of teaching and learning.
  • The post holder will manage, review and update all relevant policies and ensure Academic Regulations are fit-for purpose, take account of best practice, and are consistently applied.
  • Manage a Registry team based at Leeds Conservatoire, working closely with a second HE Registrar based at University Centre Leeds to ensure a robust and efficient Registry Service across higher education at Luminate Education Group. 
  • Liaising with external agencies, such as the Office for Students and awarding bodies, and for informing and advising on regulatory aspects of HE, providing regulatory advice to course and service teams, and including compliance with UKVI legislation.
  • Manage the External Examiner process, including, monitoring the preparation of examination papers, the scheduling of assessments, the presentation of evidence to the relevant Examination Boards and training.
  • Initiate and manage the course portfolio, including overall academic planning, development, validation, modification, periodic review, and evaluation;
  • Play a major role in the preparation for internal and external review, e.g. reports relating to student management information, statistical information/returns, corporate documentation related to the provision, audits, OfS, QAA, Annual Review, peer review, periodic review.

About You

  • The post holder will have sound, relevant, and up to date knowledge of HE quality processes and requirements. This will include thorough and up to date knowledge of Government policy in relation to higher education and experience of working with HE academic regulations and the HE Regulatory Framework. 
  • Previous experience managing teams and liaising with external agencies, awarding bodies, External Examiners. This includes demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills which can be adapted to meet the needs of a range of audiences including students, colleagues and other partners.
  • Able to develop, implement and coordinate plans, with a solution focussed, evidence based approach to decision making. Key to this will be promoting initiatives that continually improve the student experience and service provisions.
  • Proven experience managing and utilising data to inform quality improvement, including planning, monitoring and reviewing
