Interim Deputy Head of Department - PMLD

About the Role

Please note that due to closure over the Christmas break candidates will not be contacted until Week Commencing 8th January 2024.

We are looking to appoint an Interim Deputy Head of Department for our PMLD provision.  The provision currently supports 67 complex needs young people and there a level of resilience and empathy is essential.  There is an a element of leading both curriculum design, delivery and implementation as well as personal and medical care.

What You Will Do

  • Support the Head of Department in all aspects of the Departments leadership and management, particularly around quality, teaching, learning and assessment to secure outstanding outcomes for students.
  • Be a role model across the Department for outstanding teaching and learning
  • Performance manage teachers and trainers within the Department and ensure they develop their professional practice.
  • Ensure the Department is efficiently run and delivers to financial targets
  • Ensure that all courses within the Department are run effectively and meet awarding body, IQA frameworks and quality agency requirements.

About You

You must have:

  • Extensive experience of managing within a complex needs area
  • Extensive experience of managing curriculum, support and personal / medical care teams
  • A solid understanding of the legal and statutory requirements when working with High Needs learners
