About the Role
This role is full-time, reduced year: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Coach who is passionate about working with young adults - someone who thrives in an educational or employability-focused setting and is committed to playing a part in creating a long-term, meaningful difference in the lives of young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As part of our dynamic Supported Internship team, you will play a vital role in supporting young adults as they progress toward sustainable employment. This includes delivering personalised support, facilitating real-world work experiences at employer sites, and working within a flexible curriculum tailored to individual needs. Our young adults benefit from strong employer partnerships, small class sizes, and a highly skilled and dedicated team focused on empowering each young person to reach their full potential.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the high-quality delivery of our programme, building strong relationships with employers and external agencies, and ultimately helping students achieve their career goals.
Contact emma.kerry@leedscitycollege.ac.uk if you have any questions or would like to discuss the role further.

- Provide tailored, ongoing support to young adults on site at employer locations across Leeds, based on their individual needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners - including employers, services, and agencies to coordinate effective support and create meaningful opportunities for young adults.
- Support students both in and out of the classroom, including preparing them for interviews and accompanying them to interviews for permanent employment.
- Positively represent the Supported Internship department at events and employer engagement activities.
- Work closely with the central SEND team, contribute to EHCP review meetings, and ensure progress reviews and checkpoints are completed.
- Build strong, purposeful relationships with students, employers, and colleagues quickly and meaningfully.
- Work positively and effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
About You
- You have English and Mathematics qualifications at Level 2 or above, with a willingness to enhance your skills.
- You bring experience in working with young adults with SEND or in training individuals in various job roles, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and how to support their development.
- You have a good knowledge of equality legislation, the rights of disabled individuals, and the importance of reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
- You maintain relevant and current knowledge of your subject area, ensuring your expertise meets the evolving needs of the role and the young adults you support.
- You have relevant experience and a deep understanding of working in the sector, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
- You will have the ability to work positively and effectively as part of a team, while also demonstrating initiative when working independently.
- You show good judgement and have a strong understanding of the challenges and support needs of the young people you work with.
