Operations Lead - Inclusive Learning (High Needs)

About the Role

Leeds City College are recruiting for an Operations Lead to join our team.

As an Operations Lead (High Needs), you will drive the day-to-day success, compliance, and funding integrity of our department for Inclusive Provision (High Needs).

In this key leadership role, you will line-manage a central Operations team and directly support the Head and Deputy Head of High Needs. You will bridge the gap between strategic data management and practical delivery

Your daily work will involve tracking critical compliance deadlines (such as EHCP reviews), conducting audits, and ensuring all student support data is accurate and up-to-date

This is a highly collaborative role, where you will empower campus teams through expert system training and clear operating procedures. Ultimately, you will ensure our staff have the exact tools, information, and support they need to deliver positive outcomes for all SEND and vulnerable students across the group

What You Will Do

  • Support the Head and Deputy Head of Inclusive Learning (High Needs) with the overarching operational leadership of the department, taking direct ownership of and driving key specified themes and initiatives around High Needs provisions group-wide.

  • Lead and directly line manage a small but highly effective team within the Inclusive Learning (High Needs) department, in line with Group expectations for line managers.

  • Provide expert training, troubleshooting, and guidance to staff on essential internal platforms.

  • Deliver agile, ad-hoc system support and bespoke training modules across the group linked to the implementation and quality assurance of our internal EHCP outcomes tracking platform.

  • Provide flexible, high-level cross-cover for alternative High Needs roles during periods of staff absence to ensure uninterrupted operational delivery.

  • Conduct regular, hands-on campus visits across the group to support, advise, and align localised teams.

  • Develop a strong understanding of SEND legislation and its impact across the Local Offer, schools/SILCs, colleges, and employer settings.

  • Build and maintain expertise in relevant funding streams.

  • Collaborate with the admissions team to provide clear information and support for student transitions both into and out of the college.

  • Prepare and deliver training sessions as required.

  • Maintain regular, effective communication with parents, families, and key stakeholders.

  • Work alongside campus teams to ensure the college environment and services are accessible to everyone.

About You

  • English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above, and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.
  • Level 5 teaching qualification or relevant SEND / Learning Support related qualification, or willingness to work towards.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of current Government SEND legislation/guidance related to transition, Education, Social Care and Health.
  • Extensive and proven experience of working with students who have High Needs and/or SEND.
