About the Role
35 hours per Academic Year (20 teaching weeks)
The School of Popular Music & Voice wishes to appoint a Part Time Lecturer for the Pedagogy module on the BA Voice (Performance & Pedagogy) programme, to deliver teaching and assessing and undertake any other work associated relevant to the module. As students undertake external placements in the 2nd semester, any successful candidate would also help support these in liaison with the relevant Academic Manager and Module Co-ordinator, the School Administrator and any external partners.
Semester 1 (10 weeks):
Year 1 - Teaching Practices – 1 hour teaching per week
Year 2 - Teaching Technologies – 1,5 hour teaching per week
Semester 2 (10 weeks):
Year 1 - Teaching Practices – 1 hour teaching per week
The teaching term follows the Conservatoire’s Undergraduate Music Academic Calendar. Note that other duties may fall outside of the term time weeks. The start date for the teaching will be w/c 21st September 2025, but with planning and preparation happening prior to this week.
Please note that the total number of working hours for appointed staff depends on agreed teaching, assessment and other additional responsibilities, and on student enrolment numbers.

What You Will Do
- Plan and deliver engaging lectures and seminars
- Assess student coursework and provide constructive feedback, panels in line with Conservatoire guidelines.
- Support and facilitate student placements, events, and the overall student learning experience by collaborating with academic and support teams.
- Work closely with the Academic Manager, School Administrator, Module Coordinators, voice faculty, and other part-time lecturers to plan and deliver teaching, maintain curriculum quality, support effective communication, and enhance the overall student experience across the department.
- Contribute to the development of the pedagogy curriculum, departmental strategy, and the ongoing enhancement of voice provision within the Popular Music and Voice department.
About You
- Honours degree in a relevant discipline, with qualifications and/or professional or research experience in music pedagogy.
- Experience teaching undergraduate Music Pedagogy modules and facilitating music learning across a range of educational settings.
- Comprehensive subject knowledge, with evidence of teaching excellence and the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students.
- Strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with managers, lecturers, and colleagues across departments.
- Proficient in using subject-specific technologies and digital learning tools to enhance teaching and deliver an outstanding student experience.
