Salon Technician (Part Time, Reduced Year)

About the Role

Keighley College are a vibrant Further Education College delivering high-quality Hair & Beauty study programmes, and we're looking for a Salon Technician to join our team. 

Our Study Programmes department provides students with hands-on, industry-relevant experience in a realistic salon environment, supporting them to develop the skills needed for future employment.

We are looking to recruit someone who will manage and organise the functions of the commercial salon - including stock, bookings, management and delegation of resources, and support teaching staff with preparation ready for lessons. 

Please note, this is a part-time reduced year role. You will work 38 weeks per year, 30 hours per week. The pro rata'd salary is £18,705 with progression to £18,887.

What You Will Do

The duties of our Salon Technician will include: 

  1. Preparing and maintaining the salon space for teaching sessions
  2. Setting up workstations, equipment, and resources for practical lessons
  3. Managing and monitoring stock levels, including ordering and replenishment
  4. Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health & safety
  5. Supporting students during practical sessions where appropriate
  6. Assisting with client-facing activities within the training salon
  7. General maintenance and organisation of the salon rooms and equipment


About You

We are seeking a proactive and organised Salon Technician to support teaching and learning within our Hair & Beauty department. This role is essential in ensuring the salon training environment is fully prepared, safe, and professional for both students and clients.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a salon or educational setting

  • Interest in hair and beauty or education environments

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication skills, particularly with young people

  • Reliable, flexible, and professional approach
