About the Role
Keighley College are a vibrant Further Education College delivering high-quality Hair & Beauty study programmes, and we're looking for a Salon Technician to join our team.
Our Study Programmes department provides students with hands-on, industry-relevant experience in a realistic salon environment, supporting them to develop the skills needed for future employment.
We are looking to recruit someone who will manage and organise the functions of the commercial salon - including stock, bookings, management and delegation of resources, and support teaching staff with preparation ready for lessons.
Please note, this is a part-time reduced year role. You will work 38 weeks per year, 30 hours per week. The pro rata'd salary is £18,705 with progression to £18,887.
What You Will Do
The duties of our Salon Technician will include:
- Preparing and maintaining the salon space for teaching sessions
- Setting up workstations, equipment, and resources for practical lessons
- Managing and monitoring stock levels, including ordering and replenishment
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health & safety
- Supporting students during practical sessions where appropriate
- Assisting with client-facing activities within the training salon
- General maintenance and organisation of the salon rooms and equipment
About You
We are seeking a proactive and organised Salon Technician to support teaching and learning within our Hair & Beauty department. This role is essential in ensuring the salon training environment is fully prepared, safe, and professional for both students and clients.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in a salon or educational setting
Interest in hair and beauty or education environments
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills, particularly with young people
Reliable, flexible, and professional approach
