Student Relations Officer

About the Role

Leeds City College are recruiting for a Student Relations Officer based at the Printworks Campus. This varied role supports students across all six Schools to meet attendance targets, achieve academic goals and progress into further study, apprenticeships or careers, while helping to deliver engaging enrichment activities that build skills and broaden opportunities.

The role requires a flexible, student-focused approach, helping to create a positive, challenging and inclusive student experience. Duties include welcoming students and visitors, upholding high standards of behaviour, and acting as a key point of contact for students, parents/carers and colleagues.

You’ll provide pastoral support through 1:1 work, small groups and larger group sessions, contributing to key campaigns and initiatives across the campus.

Part-time or reduced year may also be considered (salary advertised will be pro rata). Please state your available hours and days on your application form within the supporting statement.

What You Will Do

  • Work across Printworks Campus to ensure that students are welcomed into a safe, friendly and supportive environment, collaborating with internal and external colleagues to support everyone to achieve their potential.

  • Develop effective professional relationships with students, staff  and the wider community to achieve inclusion,participation and development and ensure excellent levels of student satisfaction.

  • Tailor support to meet the needs of individual students in academic and pastoral environments and identify opportunities to share best practice across campus.

About You

  • Previous experience of working with young people or students in a pastoral, support or customer-facing role.

  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour using a restorative approach, with a strong commitment to creating a positive, student-focused and supportive learning environment.

  • Has excellent communication skills and can quickly analyse and resolve issues, using sound judgement, negotiation and de-escalation skills when required.

  • Can work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a busy, diverse, results-focused team, and is motivated by achieving challenging targets.

  • Is able to contribute to monitoring, reporting and data-driven tasks to support student progress and outcomes.
