Study Support Coach

About the Role

We are looking for a Study Support Coach who will be working in our busy pastoral and safeguarding team, creating and delivering to our 16 + students the PHSCE Curriculum. This curriculum has been developed and planned to prepare students for their future lives and covers subjects such as safeguarding, mental health, citizenship, conflict resolution, current affairs, healthy relationships and developing STEM 7 and sustainability skills.

The candidate will also be an integral part of the college pastoral and safeguarding team to aid our students in achieving their academic targets and providing wellbeing/pastoral support so all students enjoy and achieve their best possible grade and encourage personal growth and development.

What You Will Do

  • To be responsible for the creation and delivery of our PHSCE Curriculum and lead on pastoral intervention sessions for students who require support to achieve their learning objective. 
  • To undertake or be willing to undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer
  • To track and monitor learner attendance for PHSCE using appropriate systems to ensure target of 90% attendance is achieved 
  • To be responsible for providing pastoral support/guidance to encourage positive student outcomes, achieving the qualification and target grade. 
  • To build positive relationships with learners and provide academic/wellbeing support to ensure successful achievement.
  • To foster and develop multi-agency working partnerships to support learner wellbeing, outcomes/objectives

About You

  • PGCE/Cert Ed or relevant teaching/delivery experience
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • English and Maths qualification at L2 with a commitment to achieving L3 within 2 years of appointment if not already achieved.
  • Demonstrates significant experience or knowledge of how to work successfully with different groups of students enrolled to vocational courses where English and maths is an integral part of the study programme.
  • Good working knowledge of the use of new technologies and platforms to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to innovate and enthuse learners to succeed in their learning.
