29.6 hours per week

Actual Salary for 29.6 hours commences at £24,421 with progression £27.479 per annum

We are looking for Teachers in Creative Media to join our thriving department at Leeds City College, home to over 500 learners and a dedicated team of 30 staff. Based at our state-of-the-art Quarry Hill Campus, we deliver an exciting and diverse curriculum across subject areas including Journalism, TV & Film, Media, Animation, Esports, and Computer Games Development.

Our programmes span Levels 1, 2, and 3, including T Levels and Access to HE, and are designed to equip predominantly 16–19-year-old learners with both academic and technical skills. Our experienced and passionate teaching and support staff are committed to nurturing students’ personal growth and employability, helping them build the foundations for successful futures.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver engaging lessons in Media Studies to students at Levels 2 and 3, across a range of media disciplines.
  • Contribute to teaching areas such as Print and digital journalism, Filming techniques and cinematography, Sound production and design, Video editing and Media and audience theory
  • Plan and prepare high-quality lessons and learning materials aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Teach both theoretical and practical skills to support learners' progression into the media industry.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning and development.
  • Contribute to the creation of a supportive and inclusive learning environment, working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Help maintain high standards of teaching and learning across the department through teamwork and shared best practices.

About You

  • Up-to-date and relevant knowledge of Media Studies or a closely related subject area and a Degree-level qualification in this subject area
  • Holds, or is currently working towards, a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed)
  • Confident and comfortable delivering lessons to groups of young people (16–19 age range)
  • Able to use restorative approaches when engaging with students and colleagues.
  • A flexible, proactive, and collaborative team member with a student-focused approach
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and a commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning
  • Willing to contribute to the success and positive culture of the wider campus and college community.
