Teacher - GCSE Maths and/or English (Variable Hours)

About the Role

Harrogate College is looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational English and / or Maths Teacher to join us teaching adults and 16-19 year old students, to plan and deliver inspirational GCSE lessons.

This is a variable hours role. You will mainly teach 2 or 3 regular classes per week during term time until the GCSE exams in early June. There may be some additional revision sessions during the holiday weeks. 

Salary commences at £19.77 per hour with progression to £22.26 per hour (this is including holiday pay).

What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans that inspire learner.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Be responsible for recording student progress.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.

About You

  • Must have a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) and a relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  • You will be a passionate and enthusiastic educator with experience in teaching GCSE English/Maths to students at different levels within the secondary or FE sector.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to plan exciting and differentiated learning materials is essential to this role.
  • The ability to track and monitor progress in order to ensure learners reach their full potential will be a fundamental aspect of this role.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to ensure students not only enjoy their learning experience but are fully prepared for their final assessments.
