About the Role
Leeds Sixth Form are recruiting for a Maths Teacher to join our team. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers.
You will be teaching GCSE Maths across our Sixth Form provision, on our SUTA and Access Foundation courses, as well as supporting our Applied Science and Sports teams with GCSE Maths teaching. There may also be the opportunity for some Level 3 teaching if candidates have previous Level 3 experience.
We are a friendly and engaging department with specialists who work across both academic and pastoral areas, putting the needs of our students first. What You Will Do
You will work in our busy Maths department where we deliver GCSE Maths, A level Maths and A level Further Maths to Sixth Form, Applied Science and Sports Students, as well as Maths to our Access to HE courses all based at our Park Lane Campus.
As a part of our Maths team you will:
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners for GCSE Maths.
- Be responsible for recording student progress, motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
- Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
- Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of online learning resources for identified modules.
- Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
- Develop and employ effective assessment activities for identified modules.
- Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.
About You
- Honours Degree in Maths or a relevant subject.
- Have relevant experience in teaching these to 16-18 year-olds up to Level 2.
- You will also hold or working towards a Level 5 recognised teaching qualification.
- A proven ability to set ambitious student targets and possess the strategies and skills to effectively help all students achieve their full potential.
- An ability to deliver teaching in an engaging and inspiring manner, demonstrating excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities.
