Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Level 3) (Reduced Year)

This is a Fixed Term contract for 18 months.

Apprenticeship rates for this post are dependent on age. Please see below for the applicable rates: 

Level 3 Apprenticeship Rates

Under 18 years  - £12,925 per annum pro rata
18-20 years        - £17,170 per annum pro rata
21+ years           - £22,359 per annum pro rata

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant apprentice to join our team in the Animal Care and Land Management Department. The role involves helping learners understand their coursework, clarifying learning objectives, and encouraging positive learning behaviours to promote their progress. You will be responsible for delivering individual and small group teaching and adapting planning under the direction of a teacher; implementing safeguarding policies and safe practices; working effectively with other education professionals; promoting positive learning behaviours; and supporting the development of a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Please be aware that you will be expected to work with animals in this role. 

What You Will Do

  • Develop an understanding of the specific needs of the students to be supported, taking into account the type of support involved.
  • Observe individuals and groups of students’ personal, social and learning achievements. Maintain appropriate records, monitor progression and attainment and provide reports and information to inform and support the assessment process.
  • Organise and undertake activities with either individuals or small groups of students, to facilitate their emotional and educational development to enable their full potential to be reached.
  • Assist students where appropriate, in the proper use of learning aides and equipment and to ensure that they are readily available.
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks i.e. photocopying, basic record keeping, utilising IT skills.
  • Assist with the development of appropriate resources to support learning. 

About You

  • L2 Literacy and numeracy skills to level 2/GCSE grade a-c In English and Mathematics.
  • Willing to work towards and complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship provided at the College.
  • Able to work positively with others as part of the team.
  • Creativity and ability to develop engaging displays and learning resources.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
