Technician - Science

About the Role

We are seeking a Science Technician to join our team. You will work in a busy team supporting Science practicals for GCSE and A-level Sciences, level 2 and 3 BTEC Applied Science, and Level 2 and 3 Access Science courses. You will work well independently and as part of a team to prepare resources for practical sessions and occasionally support in the laboratory.

What You Will Do

  • You will ensure the preparation, delivery and setting up of all equipment (where necessary) for use by staff and students including related paperwork for practical sessions. 
  • Ensure that workshops, laboratories, classrooms and all equipment used are kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition. 
  • Carry out routine and non-routine checking and fault investigation of all commonly used equipment and report to the lead technician in cases where replacements/further investigation might be required. 
  • Monitor supplies of stock, especially those in frequent use, and inform senior technicians when further supplies are needed. 
  • Be responsible for the safe storage of equipment and materials.

About You

  • GCSE English and Maths, grade A* - C or equivalent.
  • You will have good communication skills.
  • Be able to effectively manage your time and resources.
  • Have a science background and an understanding of health and safety regulations as well as an understanding of relevant policies and codes of practice.
  • Previous experience of working in an educational environment.
  • Able to work on own initiative and within a team.
