About the Role
This is a part-time role: 18.5 hours a week.
We are looking for a Career Adviser to coordinate, deliver, and support the delivery of advice and guidance at Pudsey Sixth Form College (PSFC), providing flexible help and support for applicants and students on a wide range of careers related issues in individual or group situations.
The successful candidate for this role will be a qualified career guidance professional and will need to be innovative and collaborative in their outlook, with excellent communication skills. In their professional practice they will need to demonstrate experience of student engagement and knowledge and understanding of post 16 education, as well as local, regional, and national LMI (Labour Market Information).
The successful candidate will need to have experience and understanding of post-16 education and destination options, including the higher education sector (including higher-level apprenticeships), apprenticeships, and employment. They will also be able to support students in selecting and achieving aspirational destinations through one-to-one guidance, career education sessions/workshops, career events, and presentations.
What You Will Do
- Lead on career guidance (CEIAG) for Pudsey Sixth Form College (PSFC), developing resources and interventions to complement the curriculum offer and aspirational progression routes.
- Provide one-to-one careers information, advice and guidance to students.
- Produce careers action plans and record information in line with college requirements.
- Attend evening and weekend events including parents’ evenings and open events to provide Careers IAG to young people and their parents/carers as per the PSFC calendar.
About You
- Have a Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance.
- Degree or equivalent higher-level qualification.
- Able to enthuse and engage young people from 16 years plus, as well as parents/ carers and other key influencers and stakeholders.
- Have an understanding of perceived and actual barriers that will impact on students progression to positive destinations.
- Possesses good digital skills and an ability to curate and potentially devise appropriate resources that can be differentiated for different audiences ie students, staff, parents/carers.
