About the Role

The School of Engineering is looking for a Course Leader to join the team to inspire the next generation of young people into industry. Working at our Printworks Campus, you will be in a state of the art environment supporting students to complete their apprenticeships and ensure they are ready to take that step into employment at the end of their course by overseeing an engaging and diverse curriculum.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners. 
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans and ensure these are in place for all the course(s) teaching activity. 
  • Help to ensure all team members maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area. 
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression. 
  • Responsible for retention, achievement, progress/value added, attendance and positive progression rates for an identified course or courses.  
  • Carry out internal verification/moderation.
  • Line management of staff, for example in remote or workshop settings where other managers are not easily located.

About You

  • Industry experience is strongly desired
  • We are looking for an individual who has knowledge of mechanics and is confident working in a motor vehicle workshop
  • supporting the learning of students aged mainly 16-18.
  • An understanding of the awarding bodies IMI and City & Guilds would be an advantage
  • You will be a team player, confident and enthusiastic.
  • Have a passion to support this generation into their career choices.
