Cover Tutor - Leeds Junior Conservatoire

About the Role

Leeds Junior Conservatoire are recruiting for a range of Cover Tutors for short and long term cover across our programme.  We are looking for tutors who can cover one or more of the following areas:

  • Music Production
  • Music Tech
  • Bands/Ensembles (Eg Pop, Rock, Indie, Metal, Jazz, Classical)
  • Acting
  • Musical Theatre Singing
  • Vocal Skills
  • Theory
  • Composition
  • Keyboard Skills
  • Guitar Skills

Leeds Junior Conservatoire is a vibrant programme supporting talented musicians, and producers, helping them to develop skills and offering the opportunity to explore new areas in a supportive and nurturing environment. Students attending the programme are aged between 8 and 18. We work with students at all levels, from beginners through to advanced.  

 The roles involve working with groups in a variety of genres and working with students who are passionate about their music but may be self-taught and will thrive in a positive, inclusive learning environment.

 We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect staff to share this commitment. This position will be offered subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.

*The hourly rate of pay on the advert includes holiday pay.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver engaging teaching and assessment in collaboration with the Leeds Junior Conservatoire Manager

  • Complete all teaching-related administration accurately and on time

  • Support the department’s monitoring and evaluation activities

  • Track student progress closely and provide clear, constructive feedback to help students succeed

  • Take an active role in Leeds Junior Conservatoire development and contribute to curriculum improvement initiatives

About You

  • Have extensive experience of teaching practical and theoretical music to young people of mixed abilities and ages
  • Must have the ability to plan structured sessions and for progression.  
  • Tact, self-motivation, reliability, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. 
  • Degree in related subject area
  • Professional experience and knowledge in the subject area
  • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to engage, motivate, and support students through clear and inclusive teaching
  • Be collaborative and willing to work with a team of managers and lecturers to deliver an excellent student experience and contribute to a thriving work environment.
