About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Student Life Directorate, supporting Children Looked After in Leeds to make a transition to Post 16 education. You will work with Leeds Local Authority Virtual School, local education settings, Social Workers and carers to ensure that Children Looked After have a successful transition to college.
What You Will Do
- You will improve progression outcomes and destinations of Children Looked After (CLA) in Leeds by tracking, monitoring and planning Key Stage 4 interventions with secondary schools, other educational settings and agencies against agreed targets.
- You will communicate with a range of audiences, and have good professional writing skills.
- You will attend meetings for young people who have shown an interest in coming to Leeds City College, and ensure that each young person has transition support identified.
- You will support college staff to understand the needs of Children Looked After and contribute to staff training sessions.
About You
- You will have a good understanding of the experiences of Children Looked After and the impact of this on life outcomes
- You will have experience in building and maintaining restorative relationships with young people, professionals and colleagues in a range of settings.
- You will have awareness of the social and emotional needs that Children Looked After may have and how they can be supported through transition
- You will have strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
