Student Engagement Supervisor

We offer a broad mix of A Levels and vocational courses for our learners, with programmes from Level 2 to Level 3. Based at Park Lane, our provision also includes Sport, Student Support and Engagement, and a dedicated 14 to 16 provision.

This role includes key management responsibilities for our current and expanding team of Student Relations Officers (SROs). It’s an ideal opportunity for someone with previous line management experience, or for someone eager to develop their leadership skills in a dynamic, supportive environment.

What You Will Do

  • Champion a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting the department’s aim to help every student thrive.
  • Act as a visible and positive role model across campus, setting high standards in behaviour, professionalism, and student engagement.
  • Take the lead on our in-year start NEET programme, supporting young people who are not in education, employment, or training to re-engage and progress.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies, working collaboratively to support city-wide efforts to reduce NEET numbers.
  • Bring a flexible, solution-focused approach, adapting to challenges with creativity, resilience, and a commitment to student success.
  • Line manage a small team of Student Relation Officers

About You

  • Proven experience working with young people in educational or community settings, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and support their personal and academic development.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour, using restorative, non-confrontational approaches to encourage positive change and uphold a respectful environment.
  • Experience in supervising or managing staff, with a leadership style that supports, motivates, and drives high performance across a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and track progress for both learners and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective, professional relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
