About the Role
Leeds City College is currently seeking a Student Support Coordinator to join our Visual Arts team at the Quarry Hill Campus.
The Visual Arts department offers a dynamic and creative curriculum across art, photography, graphics, and textiles, supporting over 500 learners. Based at our modern Quarry Hill Campus, the department benefits from excellent facilities and a highly experienced team with a diverse range of specialist skills and industry expertise.
We deliver an engaging programme at Levels 1, 2, and 3, combining practical and academic elements to support predominantly 16–19-year-old learners in developing their creativity, confidence, and career readiness.

What You Will Do
- Collaborate with academic staff across the Visual Arts department to identify learners in need of additional non-academic support.
- Provide personalised pastoral support to help learners overcome barriers and progress toward positive destinations.
- Act as the department’s first point of contact for emergency situations, delivering both first aid and mental health first aid support as required.
- Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Officer for the department, ensuring safeguarding policies are effectively implemented.
- Work closely with curriculum teams and coaching tutors to enhance student wellbeing, support retention, and safeguard learners from potential harm.
- Manage casework related to safeguarding concerns, including crisis response and support for high-risk or acute referrals.
About You
- English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent.
- Significant experience supporting students with a variety of non-academic or pastoral support needs.
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable groups within an educational or similar setting.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a range of external partners and agencies, including making appropriate referrals.
- Skilled in applying restorative practices and demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence to build positive, supportive relationships and provide guidance to others.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems and digital tools, including Microsoft Office and/or Google applications.
