About the Role
Leeds City College is recruiting for five variable hours ESOL Teachers. These posts are variable hours, fixed term contracts until July 2025 in the first instance, but with the potential to move onto permanent posts at a later date.
We are developing a bank of flexible teachers who might later move into permanent positions. We welcome applications from experienced ESOL Teachers keen to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality education.
The teaching hours are for evening groups (17:00-19:30 or/and 18:30-21:00) at our Enfield Campus, LS7 1RG. There is no guarantee of work immediately. This post is for absence cover, long-term sick leave, new groups starting, etc. Successful applicants may choose anything from one session to more, depending on availability. Our teaching sessions are 2.5 hours per lesson.
The ESOL department at Leeds City College is a grade 1 department. Our Adult provision was graded as Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2022.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
- Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to teach ESOL learners.
- Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
- Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
About You
- You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Celta is not recognised in the UK as a full teaching qualification, but successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.
- You should have UK ESOL based experience teaching adult in colleges in the UK,
- You should have a relevant degree in English or maths, or similar.
