Course Leader - Maths

About the Role

Keighley College are seeking a Course Leader of Maths to be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of high-quality mathematics provision across a Sector Area. The role focuses on ensuring learners achieve strong outcomes, develop confidence in maths, and gain the skills needed for further study, employment, and everyday life.

The postholder will oversee curriculum planning, teaching quality, assessment, and learner progress while supporting and developing staff to deliver engaging and effective lessons. They will use data to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to raise achievement and attendance.

The Course Leader will work closely with managers, teaching staff, and support teams to ensure maths programmes meet awarding body requirements, organisational targets, and learner needs. They will also contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement, and the promotion of maths across the wider organisation.

What You Will Do

  1. Responsible for retention, achievement, progress/value added, attendance and positive progression rates selected Mathematics courses 
  2. Maintain high quality and effective delivery across the course team. 
  3. Develop new modules, units and courses. 
  4. Responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements

About You

  1. You hold a relevant maths qualification and a recognised teaching qualification, or are willing to work towards one. Experience of curriculum leadership and knowledge of quality assurance processes would be an advantage.
  2. You have experience of teaching maths successfully across a range of levels and understand how to motivate and support learners with differing starting points and needs.
  3. You are an enthusiastic and experienced maths professional with a strong commitment to improving learner outcomes and promoting the value of mathematics. 
  4. You are confident in using data to monitor performance, identify trends, and implement improvement strategies that raise achievement, attendance, and learner progress.
  5. You have excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, build positive relationships, and work collaboratively with colleagues across teams. 
  6. You are proactive, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.
