Teacher - Foundation Studies: Arts and Physical Education

About the Role

Keighley College are seeking a Teacher of Foundation Studies to inspire students through engaging lessons, with a focus on Life Skills, Arts, and PE that builds confidence, independence, and personal development.

You will create an inclusive environment where all learners can participate, develop practical skills, improve their wellbeing, and express themselves creatively. The position requires adapting teaching to meet individual needs, monitoring progress, promoting positive behaviour, and working closely with colleagues and support staff to help students achieve their goals and prepare for their next steps in education, employment, or independent living.

What You Will Do

  1. Ensure that the preparation, marking, assessment and moderation are completed promptly and efficiently within agreed timescales.
  2. Effectively manage the delivery of creative and active learning for each individual learner, including appropriate support where necessary.
  3. Continuously demonstrate a commitment towards further professional development including the application of new technologies to improve the effectiveness of learning management.
  4. Ensure that EHCPs are updated and reviewed regularly.

About You

  1. You will hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  2. Relevant highest-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  3. English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.
  4. A dedicated, enthusiastic, and learner-focused practitioner who is passionate about supporting EHCP students on Foundation Studies programmes. 
  5. The successful candidate will be creative, patient, and committed to helping learners develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills through engaging Art and PE activities. 
  6. You will be able to build positive relationships with students, adapt your approach to meet individual needs, and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. 
  7. A strong team player, you will work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to ensure learners make progress and achieve their personal goals and future progression pathways.
