About the Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teaching Facilitator of Level 1 - Personal Social Development and Level 2 - Employability to join our Enterprise and Employability team, based at our Somerville House campus.
In this role, you will support learner development, progression, and achievement. Our curriculum is centred on active learning and skills development which means that we provide learners with practical lessons and work closely with employers and higher education providers to give learners an insight into different careers, the world of work, apprenticeships and higher education. Our class sizes are no bigger than 20 students per class.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience of working with young people, who has patience, empathy and the enthusiasm to support learners take the next step in their education or employment. We are looking for a candidate who wants to make the move into becoming a qualified teacher and has the willingness and commitment to complete a Teaching Apprenticeship.
We will support the successful candidate to complete their Teaching Apprenticeship. As an Apprentice Teacher, you will gain on the job experience, whilst also working towards completing your Teaching apprenticeship - on completion you will gain a Level 5 Certificate in Education. The apprenticeship duration is 24 months, and the course is provided internally through University Centre Leeds. You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning and Assessment team who share their expertise and guidance on best practice to our teaching colleagues at all levels of their career.
The School of Enterprise and Employability offers a wide range of study programmes to 16-18 year old learners and 19+ with an EHCP. Our course offers range from Level 1 for learners who may be applying to college with limited previous experience or qualifications, to Level 2, which enables students to progress to higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work.

What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
- Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and be responsible for recording student progress.
- Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area.
- Maintain and update knowledge of educational research to develop evidence- based practice.
- Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
- Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
- Carry out internal verification/moderation.
About You
- Relevant up to date subject knowledge in Personal Development / Employability skills.
- Experience of working with young people to support their pastoral/ wellbeing/ safeguarding/ SEND needs.
- Experience of setting appropriate SMART
targets to support the progression of individuals/groups
Exceptional verbal /written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to be adaptable and flexible towards the requirements of different learner needs
Ability to follow direction and constructive feedback, to help support development as a teaching practitioner
IT literate including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases i.e. Microsoft Word, Access and Excel and Google platforms
Excellent organisational skills
